Description

One day, after about 20 unsatisfactory walk throughs of Real Estate,
looking for the ideal home with a separate office/studio space, our
Rebbie friend, Andy Gold, suggested one of us do the walking/talking
meditation practice of Hitbodedut. I thought, “heck why not, the
regular stuff doesn’t seem to be working.”

The next day, I sat with him, got instructions for how to do
Hitbodedut, and off I went in the summertime warmth at 8,000 feet to
a beautiful outdoor meadow with a pond in the center which became
the circular path for my new practice.

I will say, the very next day, my partner came home with a flyer of a
home/office space that fit my description to a tea that I had just
expressed in my Hitbodedut the day before. Not only that, but there
were some big bonuses too that I had not “voiced out loud,” but were
my partner’s requests that were somehow heard too…specifically a
home with long views and priced right!

Badda-boom, badda-bing…we bought our new home/office and
moved in right away! What a relief! I was so tired of “shopping” for
what seemed as the impossible lay out for our home/office needs.
And yet here it was! I definitely felt it was due to the walking
prayer/meditation I had done just days before in the Hitbodedut
practice.

I have done the practice now several times, indoors, as it seems it’s
always the winter time that I am once again urged to do this practice.
Tis still very successful indoors. Addtionally, I have added a rattle or a
drum to keep me going, versus the walking stick that kept me going
around and around the outdoor pond where I first did the Hitbodedut.
Hitbodedut, which is a Hebrew-based practice was first developed by
Rabbi Nachman in the late 18th Century as a way to express your
longing, a way of talking to your Soul, or to God, or to Spirit; a way to
gain clarity of expression and express clearly and succintly what it is
that we want to manifest most deeply in our lives.
The process helps you refine what it is you want and to say it exactly

as you mean it; to concentrate on the issue you want to think about,
to gain insights, to pour your heart out and be heard.
It’s a great practice to do briefly everyday or just once in a while,
when you feel very clutter-brained and need to unload as a way to
calm and clear your mind. Is best to do alone. Tis very relaxing,
surprising, and a fun way to ease the tensions of your life. Great for
spawning New Beginnings!

You don’t have to be Jewish (or religious/spiritual) to do Hitbodedut!
Just willing. And desireous of “something.”
Allow me to teach you more and away you will go, eagerily down the
Hitbodedut path.

Participating in the Hitbodedut was powerful and subtle at the same time. I know that it had incredible, life-changing impacts on my reality – but because the ritual is on the soul / energy level (vs. data brain), it’s not something I can track with my linear understanding.

What I do know is that is was an incredibly impactful medicine that felt both very good while practicing – and I felt & sensed it’s impact on my life subtly, yet profoundly, over time. I’m so grateful to Elizabeth for sharing this protocol with me. I’ve worked with her for over ten years, in both consultations and other modalities like Hitbodedut; there are no words to properly describe how much I appreciate her & the healing tools she offers the world.
